Orthodontics
Orthopedic / Functional
Is your daughter or son 8 years old? Have they been orthodontically assessed by your dentist? At around this age, patterns of jaw growth and tooth positioning can already be identified.

Do you notice any of the following conditions:
-
severe misalignment of teeth?
-
buck-like teeth? or a severe 'overjet'?
-
difficulty with pronounciation of words?
It may be a good idea, even at this early stage, to obtain an orthodontic diagnosis.
This may help minimise tooth extractions in the future, for your child.
Orthodontics
Orthodontics or braces, as is commonly known, are used to move teeth for a variety of reasons, including health and function, not just for cosmetics.
When you look in the mirror, do you see:
-
severe crowding or teeth out of alignment?
-
a deep overbite or vertical overlap of teeth?
-
or, a smile that you are just not confident with?
Braces are not only just for teenagers - it can be for mature-age adults too, who have a collapsed or bad bite.
There are various options, ranging from traditional silver braces to invisible tooth-coloured brackets.
